Side Mount Poultry Drinker

Side Mount Poultry Drinker

No more dirt, debris and droppings in drinking water and less wastage.

Side mounted water nipple
Chickens love fresh water and it is so important to keep drinking water as clean as possible.  These water nipples ensure that your birds are always provided with a hygienic water source.
Wet areas are a perfect breeding ground for disease, such as Coccidiosis which will quickly kill large numbers of birds, especially chicks under a heat lamp when droppings end up in their drinking water.

Chickens are easy to train to use this new technique of drinking.  Remove all other sources of water and the birds will quickly figure out how the nipples work.

Chickens are curious about anything shiny and will peck at the silver nipple which releases drops of water into the drip guard beneath.  Chicks as young as ten days old are capable of using these.

Unlike vertical mounted drinker nipples, the drip guard prevents water dripping on the ground, causing wet areas where bacteria breeds.  There is so much less wasted water and you can be assured that your birds are drinking clean water.
Horizontal nipples are spring loaded and don't leak. They only release water when the bird pecks them and they have a positive seal as soon as the bird stops.

We don't give our birds any water that we wouldn't drink ourselves and since converting to these drinkers, have saved an astonishing amount of water.  This means no more daily scrubbing out of fouled-up water bowls and water tipped out and wasted on the ground.  Our birds have a fresh water supply at all times and we only need to freshen up the bucket every few days.

How to fit:
The tapered thread makes it easy to fit.  Drill a 9mm hole near the bottom of a lidded bucket or container and screw in by hand until firmly in place.  Ensure the pointed V shaped side is at the bottom.
Sit bucket on a block so the drinkers are at the height of a chicken's back.
We recommend drilling a couple of small holes near the top of the bucket to prevent the vacuum caused by the lid tight down.  This will allow the water to flow freely.

A quality European designed product.
Dimensions: width: 3.5cm, projection once fitted: 2cm
We also stock 10 litre lidded drinker pails @ $13.00 each and are happy to drill the holes for you.
